Lake County EDT, Orlando EDC ask: ‘What’s the other half?’

Release Date: March 03, 2014

TAVARES — Seeking to bring attention to strengths beyond tourism and hospitality, the Orlando Economic Development Commission (EDC) recently launched a new business brand for Central Florida, “Orlando. You don’t know the half of it.” Lake County’s new “Real Florida. Real Close” branding campaign ties in perfectly to this regional marketing initiative.

“To us, Lake County represents ‘the other half,’ with our untouched natural resources, historic downtowns and award-winning sports facilities, all within a short driving distance of Orlando’s theme parks and airport,” said Robert Chandler, director of Lake County’s Economic Development & Tourism Department. “From state-of-the-art manufacturing companies like CaptiveAire to the advanced medical facility NeuLife, Lake County is also becoming a premier business location for creating higher paying jobs in the Central Florida area.”

Lake County’s Economic Development & Tourism Department (EDT) is working closely with the EDC to solidify Central Florida’s growing reputation as a prime business location. The EDC and Lake County EDT are asking residents to log on to http://info.orlandoedc.com/branding to share stories about their vision of the “other half” of Central Florida.

The EDC serves Orange, Seminole, Lake and Osceola counties and the City of Orlando. Since its start in 1977, the EDC, with the support of its community partners, has assisted thousands of companies relocate, expand and grow in the four-county Metro Orlando region. This has led to more than 176,750 jobs announced; $9.5 billion in capital investment; and more than 79.7 million square feet of office and industrial space leased or constructed.
