Lake Legislative Days gives business leaders, local officials a chance to meet with legislative delegation

TAVARES —The Chamber Alliance of Lake County is encouraging business leaders and local elected officials to attend its annual Lake Legislative Days on Tuesday, Feb. 18 and Wednesday, Feb. 19 at the State Capitol Building in Tallahassee.

Registered attendees will have an opportunity to learn about the 2014 legislative agenda; network with fellow business leaders and local elected officials; and participate in advocacy meetings with state legislators on the topics of environment and health; transportation; education; local government; and economic development.

The event begins Tuesday at 1 p.m. with an advocacy briefing session, followed at 2 p.m. with  advocacy appointments with legislators.  At 5:30 p.m., an evening networking reception will be held.

Wednesday starts with a kick-off legislative planning breakfast. Then from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and 2 to 5 p.m., legislative advocacy meetings will be held at the State Capitol Building. A wrap-up luncheon is scheduled from 12:30 to 2 p.m., where participants will regroup to discuss feedback received from the meetings.

The registration fee is $65, and includes participation in a minimum of one advocacy meeting appointment, admission for one to the reception, legislative planning breakfast, wrap-up luncheon and round-trip transportation. The fee does not include lodging. Registration can be completed and paid for online at www.lakecountychamberalliance.com.

The chartered bus will depart from Lake-Sumter State College in Leesburg at 8 a.m. on Tuesday for the trip to Tallahassee and will leave for the return to Leesburg at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
