Find out what websites and social media do for businesses at upcoming SBDC seminar

TAVARES – The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at the University of Central Florida (UCF)-Lake County is offering an upcoming seminar to help businesses learn about social media and how to use it to help promote a business.  The “What is Social Media about…Really?” seminar will be held on Thursday, Nov. 21 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Lake-Sumter State College, 9909 U.S. Highway 441, Leesburg.

Dr. Robert Casio, an adjunct faculty member at UCF in the College of Business Administration and at the SBDC, will explain the fundamental differences between a custom-designed website and a template-based website. The seminar will also cover the advantages and disadvantages of the two formats to ensure the best strategic fit for an organization, budget and overall strategic goals.

Other topics include overall framework for website structure and organization; mobile friendliness; effective webpage copy and graphics, including breadth versus depth of copy;  educational information; user navigation; and search engine rating strategies.

At the conclusion of the course, the discussion will center on call to action strategies for critical success factors and basic transaction processing.

The class will be broken into two segments. session one will cover “Website Fundamentals” and session two will address “Search Engine Optimization, Paid Search and Social Media.” The cost is $20, and pre-registration is required.  To register, visit http://tinyurl.com/nbx3b7d.
