Deadline extended for clothing donations to benefit Goodwill Industries of Central Florida

TAVARES — The Lake County Board of County Commissioners is extending the deadline for its clothing donation drive to support Goodwill Industries of Central Florida. Donations will now be accepted through 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8 at the Lake County Administration Building, 315 W. Main St., Tavares.

Bins are located in the rotunda of the Administration Building. Clothing items being donated should be gently used, and accommodate a range of sizes, gender, age groups and occasions. Items donated are tax deductible. For those interested in claiming a tax deduction, receipts for donations should be downloaded from Goodwill’s website at www.goodwillcfl.org/donateGiving.php prior to depositing items. Attendant signatures can be obtained by visiting the County’s Economic Development & Tourism Department, located in the Administration Building, room 233.

Goodwill Industries of Central Florida is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation that serves Brevard, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole and Volusia counties. The organization currently has 26 retail stores, 11 Donation Xpress Centers and eight Job Connection Centers in Central Florida. Last year, they served over 27,500 people, placing over 5,300 into jobs in Central Florida.
