Lake County’s Community Resource & Career Fair to offer counseling, personal development services

Release Date: August 21, 2013
LEESBURG — The Lake County Probation Services Division, in cooperation with Partners Investing in People and the Goodwill Job Connection Center, will host a Community Resource and Career Fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11 at the Venetian Gardens’ Community Building, 201 E. Dixie Ave., Leesburg.
The free event brings together more than 50 agencies to aid disadvantaged citizens seeking self- improvement opportunities, as well as their family members and the community at-large.
“Government agencies alone can’t respond to the complex needs of many people involved in our legal system,” said Tony Deaton, Lake County’s Chief Probation Officer. “The purpose of this event is to enhance community safety by empowering citizens who are striving to become productive members of our community, while reducing the likelihood of criminal justice system involvement.”
Some services and information provided at the event include assistance with employment, education, health care, driver licenses and ID, substance-abuse recovery, transportation, legal aid, housing services, victim assistance, veteran services and interactive workshops. Numerous employers are expected to be on-site to accept applications for current vacancies.
