Lake County business owners can benefit from the SBDC’s ‘Start-Up Basics’ course

Release Date: August 02, 2013

TAVARES – The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at UCF-Lake County, funded by Lake County and residing in Lake County’s Business Opportunity Centers, will offer another opportunity for entrepreneurs to learn how to start a business at a free seminar entitled, “Start-Up Basics.”

Stan Austin, Area Manager and Certified Business Analyst, will help entrepreneurs understand what it takes to start a business; discuss business plans and the importance of preparing one; and explores the legal entities – sole proprietorship, partnership, corporation and Limited Liability Corporation. The seminar will also help determine the local, state or federal licensing requirements needed to operate.

“Stan Austin is a very good teacher and speaker,” students said after the class was offered on May 10. “I learned enough to succeed in my future business.”

Registration is recommended, as the free course is popular and space is limited. The seminar will be offered at three different locations on the following dates:

• Leesburg Community Center
109 E. Dixie Ave., Leesburg
6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8

• Lake-Sumter State College – South Lake Campus
1250 N. Hancock Road, Clermont, Building 2, Room 101
6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15

• Northeast Lake Business Opportunity Center
1520 S. Bay St., Eustis
6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22

The SBDC at UCF-Lake County provides existing and prospective entrepreneurs with high-quality business management counseling, entrepreneurial training and information access and transfer, enabling them to maximize their businesses’ growth, competitiveness and profitability within their trading area.
