TAVARES — Lake County is hosting a public workshop for a planning area in South Lake known as Wellness Way, from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 31 at the Clermont Community Center, 620 W. Montrose St., Clermont. Check-in will begin at 5:30 p.m. and light refreshments will be provided by the city of Clermont.
During the meeting, representatives from LittleJohn Engineering Associates, Inc., the consultant retained by Lake County for the Wellness Way Sector Plan, along with Lake County staff, will give an update on the status of Wellness Way and will solicit input from attendees about its advancement.
“Wellness Way has been recognized for many years as an area with significant potential for economic development,” said Lake County Commissioner Sean Parks. “A successful sector planning effort will enable Lake County to diversify its economy, while also protecting the natural resources and strengthening connectivity with other economic centers within the region.”
In October 2012, Lake County hosted its first community meeting to discuss Wellness Way. At the meeting, more than 100 participants worked in facilitated groups to identify relevant planning issues and to provide feedback to the county which will help shape the future of the planning area.
