Lake County now offers online services for commercial, industrial permitting

Release Date: July 10, 2013

TAVARES — The Lake County Growth Management Department recently introduced the ability to apply for commercial and industrial permits online through the county website at www.lakecountyfl.gov/growthmanagement. The new feature makes it easier for contractors and developers to obtain these permits remotely.

Along with the commercial and industrial building permits, pre-application conferences, preliminary plat reviews and site plan applications are also being accepted through the website.

“With our online system, applicants can securely and conveniently submit all documents, including plans, and pay for any associated fees,” said Amye King, director of Growth Management. “Since this can save several potential trips to the Lake County Administration Building, it streamlines the process for citizens, contractors and developers.”

The online service includes electronic reviews by the county and the Lake County Health Department’s Environmental Health Services. Also available are tutorials for each application type, including detailed walk-throughs of the application and submitting process, a break-down of the potential fees and links to more information.

The county has offered the ability for residents and contractors to apply for minor permits online for several years. In September 2011, Lake County unveiled its new process for accepting residential permits through its website, and has been working to keep expanding services online.
