SBDC classes to help Lake County businesses become state-certified, sell to government

TAVARES – The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at UCF-Lake County, funded by Lake County and residing in Lake County’s Business Opportunity Centers, is offering two programs to help businesses become certified vendors, and also understand the process of selling to all levels of government.
• Introduction to PTAC Program
The Orlando Procurement Technical Assistance Center was established in 1985 to help established businesses understand the process of selling to the government on the federal, state and local levels. The information sessions and consulting services will be led by Derek Hudson, MBA, CBA.
Three sessions are available:
9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, South Lake Business Opportunity Center, 20763 U.S. Highway 27, Groveland
9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 11, North East Lake Business Opportunity Center, 1520 S. Bay St., Eustis
9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 9, Leesburg Community Center, 109 E. Dixie Ave., Leesburg

10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, June 11

This class will review the benefits, requirements for eligibility and necessary documentation to become a Certified Vendor in Florida. Presenters will be Derek Hudson, MBA, CBA, procurement specialist at PTAC/SBDC at UCF; and Jeannette Schutz, minority business enterprise manager with Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise.
The SBDC at UCF-Lake County provides existing and prospective entrepreneurs with high-quality business management counseling, entrepreneurial training, and information access and transfer, enabling them to maximize their businesses’ growth, competitiveness and profitability within their trading area.
