Public invited to kick-off meeting for South Lake Sector Plan

Release Date: October 19, 2012

CLERMONT — The Lake County Board of County Commissioners is inviting the community to an upcoming meeting to discuss the County’s South Lake Sector Plan.

The meeting, facilitated by the East Central Florida Regional Planning Council, will be held on Thursday, Nov. 1, from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Lake-Sumter Community College’s South Lake Campus, located at 1250 N. Hancock Road, Clermont in Building 1, Room  204.

The purpose of the meeting will be to address economic development, land use, transportation, financing, water supply and public facility needs that would affect the 16,200 acres within the South Lake Sector Planning Area, which is located south of State Road 50 and east of U.S. Highway 27.

“The area of the South Lake Sector Plan has been recognized for many years as one that has significant potential for economic development,” said Lake County Commissioner Sean Parks. “A successful sector planning effort will enable Lake County to diversify its economy, while also protecting the natural resources and strengthening connectivity with other economic centers within the region.“

Representatives from the public, local governments, adjacent counties, the East Central Florida Regional Planning Council and other public agencies will be in attendance to help identify the relevant planning issues to be addressed by the Sector Plan.  They will also provide the data and resources to assist in preparation of a long-term master plan for the area.
