Lake County company G&T Conveyor completes major project at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport

TAVARES — G&T Conveyor Company, America’s largest manufacturer of turn-key baggage handling systems located in Tavares recently announced the completion of a major upgrade to 22nd largest airport that serves more than 22 million passengers annually - the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

The project took just under 22 months to complete, and included more than 7,000 linear feet of conveyor, 685 drives, five new slope plate make-up units, ten G&T vertical sorters and 22 G&T power face diverters. The new system spans across both the east and west side of the terminal, with each side designed to handle up to 2,000 bags per hour, and results in an improved system capacity and smoother baggage flows.
