Release Date: October 14, 2011

CLERMONT — Lake County will host the U.S. Men’s Under 17 (U17) National Soccer team as they play an exhibition game with the Florida Rush Nike U17 team at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15, at the National Training Center (NTC) Athletic Fields, located at 1099 Citrus Tower Blvd., Clermont.

The U.S. U17 team features the nation’s top 16-year-old boys, who represent the U.S. in international competition. The team is a feeder program for the U.S. National Team, which represents the U.S. in the World Cup and Olympics.

“We’re thrilled that Lake County will play host to the nation’s future star soccer athletes at this tournament,” said Scott Blankenship, Economic Development & Tourism Director. “The National Training Center is a great venue, and the free event should be fun for the whole family.”
