Successful GO GREEN GET GREEN rebate program to end Sept. 26

Release Date: September 20, 2011

TAVARES — Lake County announced today an end date for the highly successful GO GREEN GET GREEN rebate program. Because of the overwhelming response received for the program, funding used to reimburse Lake County residents and business owners for completing energy efficiency upgrades is rapidly depleting. All rebate applications must be received no later than 9 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 26 in order to be considered for the program.

Applications for the program can be downloaded and submitted along with the necessary supporting documentation online at www.GoGreen.LakeCountyFL.gov, emailed to [email protected], delivered in-person to the Department of Community Services located at 1300 S. Duncan Drive, Building E, in Tavares, or mailed to P.O. Box 7800, Attn: GO GREEN GET GREEN, Tavares, FL 32778-7800.  Applications mailed must have a postmarked date of Sept. 26 or earlier to be considered.

Because the program is a one-time, first-come, first-served rebate program, all applications will be processed in the order they were received. Although applications might be eligible and received by the deadline, once funding has been completely expended, no further applications will be reimbursed. Due to the popularity of the program and the sheer volume of rebate applications being received, rebate checks or other notification could take between 6 to 8 weeks for delivery.

The Department of Energy awarded Lake County $2.8 million through the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG), with $826,609 of the funds being dedicated to the GO GREEN GET GREEN rebate program. The GO GREEN GET GREEN rebate program was developed to increase energy efficiency and create jobs in Lake County.
