Business incubator in Leesburg to host open house

Release Date: February 22, 2010
LEESBURG — The Lake County Department of Economic Growth & Redevelopment is pleased to announce the University of Central Florida (UCF) Business Incubator in Leesburg, located at 600 Market St., will host an open house on Tuesday, Feb. 23, from 4 to 6 p.m.
“The business incubator attracts entrepreneurs and ensures they have what they need to get up and running quickly in a very competitive economic environment,” said Dottie Keedy, Director of the Lake County Department of Economic Growth & Redevelopment. “The goal of this strategic investment is to help Lake County grow new companies, create new jobs and strengthen our County’s economy.”
The Lake County Board of County Commissioners entered a partnership agreement last year with the City of Leesburg and University of Central Florida Research Foundation to strengthen the business incubator at the Leesburg Business & Technology Center. The agreement provides tools, training and infrastructure to start-up companies at the incubator.
With five other incubators throughout Central Florida, the Leesburg location was UCF’s first incubator in Lake County. The UCF Research Foundation provides a variety of services to fledgling companies at the Leesburg incubator, such as networking, business counseling, finance & accounting, education, intellectual properties, technology, legal services, marketing, office operations and public relations.
